A Brief Biography on Alf Garbutt

In 1978 he earned the Outstanding Graduate Award from the world's largest healing arts college, Palmer College of Chiropractic.  While at Palmer he also received the top intern status in the outpatient clinic.

After graduation he became a certified instructor of various chiropractic methods and lectured at regional and international seminars on treating jaw/skull, internal organ, chronic pain and muscular disorders.  In the early 1980's he taught in the Sports Medicine Dept. at Pepperdine University.  During this period he treated and advised numerous world class athletes.  He helped prepare the U.S.A. Field Hockey Team for the 1994 Olympics by designing their nutrition and exercise programs, along with providing chiropractic care.

Dr. Garbutt has studied nutrition for over 31 years and has used it to improve the condition of patients' bodies for over 20 years.  He has written many articles on nutrition and co-hosted a radio talk show on nutrition in the San Diego area.

While at Palmer College he attended more hours of extra classes than any other student and has continued this practice with over 3,500 hours of postgraduate and extra curricular courses.  This extra training has made him one of the most highly board certified doctors on the planet.  He has board certification in pain management, rehabilitation, nutrition, and chiropractic sports medicine.  In addition to this, he is one of the most highly trained doctors in the Los Angeles in regards to motor vehicle collision injuries, with advanced certification from the Spine Research Institute of San Diego.  Besides his numerous articles on nutrition and exercise, Dr. Garbutt has published articles on traumatic brain injury and concussions as they relate to motor vehicle collisions.

Over the years, Dr. Garbutt has examined and/or treated athletes at national and world championships.  He has also been brought to music recording studios in addition to TV and film sets to care for top celebrities.  In recent years he has lectured on food/chemical sensitivities to doctors at the American Academy of Pain Management and to the Council on Nutrition.
